About
I’m a dad and a husband, a home cook and a music nerd, and social media manager for SAS, the leader in business analytics software and services. I started my career in 1989 as a reporter and photographer for The Chapel Hill (N.C.) News. Since then I’ve worked in marketing communications for a variety of companies and clients, mostly in technology.
Before coming to SAS in 2007 I worked for Yep Roc Records, directing web and social media marketing and overseeing the launch of the web store. I’ve been active in social media since 1994 when I joined my first Internet forum and began blogging in 2002, writing the daily update for the Iceland Airwaves music festival.
I was born in New Jersey and came to North Carolina as quick as I could, and graduated from Guilford College in Greensboro with a degree in English. I live in Carrboro, NC with my wife and son.

By the way, this blog is an amalgam of several others, including Fistful of Plooble, which launched in 2003 and wasn’t very businesslike at all, and my personal work (what?) blog that I began on WordPress.com before geeking up and moving to a self-hosted blog. I also repost from my SAS social media blog, Conversations and Connections.
Any opinions expressed on this blog are my own and don’t represent those of my employer.
The email, RSS and information icons come from Icons, etc. I messed with them a bit. Well, a lot.
Here’s the about page from Fistful of Plooble, in case you miss it:
